Patriots acquired WR Chad Ochocinco in a deal

New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker ...Image via WikipediaUSA TODAY spoke to a person with direct knowledge of the situation who confirms the loquacious wideout has been dealt to the Patriots; NFL Network adds he'll get a three-year extension.
The only thing serial tweeter Ochocinco has offered this evening is: "God is so Good"
Ochocinco and Patriots coach Bill Belichick might seem like an odd couple, but they've expressed overwhelming mutual respect in prior matchups and when Belichick has coached him at Pro Bowls. NFL Films has caught their light-hearted on-field interactions.
One of Ochocinco's first orders of business could be prying loose TE Aaron Hernandez's No. 85 jersey. His second order of business could be quickly adapting to Belichick's desire that his players adopt a vanilla stance with reporters.
Reporter Ian Rapoport mentioned the 49ers and Raiders as potential suitors, noting that the Patriots had spent considerable time reworking the wide receiver's contract. New England acquired Ochocinco in a move.
The Chad Ochocinco era is over in Cincinnati -- and it couldn't have come at a better time. Regardless of what you think about the colorful 33-year-old receiver,

Does John Boehner have leverage in debt-ceiling crisis? - latimes.com

Minority Leader John BoehnerImage by TalkMediaNews via Flickr"With a week to go until a potentially calamitous federal default, talks that began three months ago with an overt gesture toward bipartisanship appear to have ended in a high-stakes game of chicken.

Both President Obama and House Speaker John A. Boehner set their hot rods on a collision course Monday evening, with neither side showing much interest in compromise even as the clock continues to tick.

Both men appeared to center the thrust of his appeals to the audience at home around the same set of political players, the insurgent Republicans in the House. To Obama, they represent irrationality and a failure to seek compromise for the good of the nation. To Boehner, they are a growing power base that must be courted if his plan has any hope to pass."

Deshon Marman to sue US Airways after saggy pants arrest

Deshon Marman to sue US Airways after saggy pants arrest
University of New Mexico football player Deshon Marman plans to sue US Airways after the flight crew chucked him off the plane for wearing sagging pajama pants, an incident that sparked allegations of racial profiling, his attorney said Wednesday.

The decision to pursue a lawsuit follows the announcement by the San Mateo County District Attorney Wednesday that Marman will not face charges on suspicion of resisting arrest and injuring a cop during the June 15 incident.

“We do not believe that criminal charges are warranted in light of all of the circumstances surrounding the incident,” DA Steve Wagstaffe said in a statement.

Attorney Joe O’Sullivan told The San Francisco Examiner the airline has not apologized for the dispute and has yet to reimburse Marman for the $500 flight he missed on June 15.

Marman, 20, a San Francisco native, has faced “a great deal of adversity” and public embarrassment that could have been avoided had US Airways attempted to resolve the dispute, O’Sullivan said.

Every Women's World Cup brings out the naked sexism in the world of sports.

DRESDEN, GERMANY - JULY 10: Abby Wambach (L) ...Image by Getty Images via @daylifeEvery Women's World Cup brings out the naked sexism in the world of sports.: "Congrats to the U.S. women's soccer team for today's 3-1 win over France in the semi-finals of the World Cup. The game felt like a nice, easy trot to victory, especially after Sunday's nail-biter of a game against Brazil. (Which produced one of the most fun sports fan videos I've ever seen.) As both a fan of women and World Cup, I'm always happy to see the U.S. women's team do well and increase American enthusiasm for women's soccer. Plus, star players Abby Wambach and Hope Solo, the goalkeeper, are fun personalities to root for, with Solo having what is probably the greatest name ever for a professional athlete to sweeten the deal.
However, we are talking about women's sports and nothing can ever be simple when it comes to women using their bodies to do things other than sexually entice men and bear children. While it would be nice if we could just conduct a single women's World Cup without sexual objectification, lesbian panic, and claims that women's sports don't count as real sports, I don't imagine that will be happening any time in my lifetime."
